the studio

Hansen Knutsen Architecture was founded in 2021 by designer Tim Cæsar Knutsen and architect Frida Østby Hansen. The studio is an experimental interior- and architecture practice that specialises in interior design and custom furniture design.
Projects range from fine carpentry making, interior refurbishments and small scale architectural projects.

The studio has extended knowledge in material reuse and including reclaimed building material in our projects. For more information about reuse, go to stories.

services

We work with interior-architecture, design custom solutions and furniture for private and commercial clients. Our design philosophy is based on knowledge and honesty in materials. Based on this, our aesthetic is an earthy pallet with raw-materials like wood, stone and steel at the core.

For smaller projects we do consultation from a minimum of 5 hours. This will include a floor plan, hand drawings, some furniture and detailing recommendations. Further expansion of this will include lighting and electrical plans, 3D visualisation and instructions for the contractor.

  • We begin with a site visit to gather measurements, take photographs, and ask questions. From the information collected, we develop the framework for a design. This includes creating plans, sketches, and a material/colour scheme.

  • In this phase, we concentrate on detailing the design. We focus on specifying form, finishes, and creating detailed drawings for the construction phase. This is the stage where we narrow down choices and refine the space to fit needse and budget.

  • The duration of this phase depends on the contractors, project size, and the types of renovation work needed. Our role in this phase is to monitor progress and make real-time decisions regarding finalizing finishes and materials, ensuring quality control, and addressing any unforeseen issues.

We offer free initial consultations to discuss your project. During the meeting, whether on-site or virtual, we'll go over specific details like understanding your vision and how you plan to use the space. Afterwards, we'll provide a quote for the project, with the option for fixed pricing if preffered.
